Commodity Distribution and Food Bank
Commodities Schedule:
The Council on Aging & Human Services’ State and Federal Emergency Food Assistance distributions are held one day per month at the following locations and times. Please call us at 1-800-809-3351 for specific dates. In addition, the Council on Aging operates food banks in Colfax, Rosalia, and Malden on the second Tuesday of every month from 4 to 6 pm.
Commodity Food Distribution and Food Bank activities are important components of the Nutrition Program. The Council on Aging & Human Services is the lead agency responsible for country-wide distribution of commodity food provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Temporary Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP). They also make deliveries to eligible homebound persons. The Community Action Center Food Bank also participates in the Emergency Food Assistance Program (EFAP) with Council on Aging & Human Services as the lead agency. EFAP funds are also used to help pay for food for special diets.

ELIGIBILITY:
* MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OF AGE
* HAVE HOUSEHOLD INCOMES THAT DO NOT EXCEED 185% OF THE FEDERAL
POVERTY LEVEL FOR COMMODITIES.
* SOME OF THE FOOD GIVEN AWAY ARE EMERGENCY FOOD ASSISTANCE
PROGRAM FOOD AND THERE ARE NO INCOME GUIDELINES FOR THESE FOOD
ITEMS.
